Springwater Stables

  Springwater Stables is located in Oregon City, Oregon just a short drive to Portland. Our small, 10 acre farm is home to many animals including, of course miniature donkeys as and sheep.  We also have goats, chickens, dogs cats and a pony.  We discovered the kind nature that miniature donkeys posses when we purchased our nery first jennet, Daphne.  We got her when she was only six months old and since she has brought much joy into our lives!  After a few years of owning miniature donkeys we decided to breed, and contacted Jane Du Plessis who sold us our wonderful new black herdsire, Thomasino Prins. He will be offered for outside breeding when he isold enough. We aslo purchased a wonderful black jennet from her who is sired by the legeondary Motown's Secret. 

  We also raise Katahdin and St. Croix sheep which are extremely low maintenece hair sheep breeds requiring no shearing as they shed their coats in spring. They also are known for their resistance to disease and hoof problems.  We raise them for meat as they are lower in cholersterol than other breeds.  We only have at the most 15 sheep at one time in our herd, and each and every one has access to a large pasture with grass, shelter in the barn and water.  They are treated with all the respect they deserve and since our herd is so smal every sheep receives hoof care, worming, etc on a regular basis.
